Do you find

that you only have enough willpower to tackle one challenge at a time?  I started my big triathlon training plan last week and then woke up to 7 feverish children the next day.  By the time they started to turn a corner, Bill and I were up to our necks in a talk of the sacrament of matrimony for the converts at church.  The talk went well, but there is always a lot of debate and discussion and disagreement on that topic which causes me so much internal turmoil that Sunday afternoon I didn't have the oomph to get to the gym.  And so it has continued.....my body is filled with nervous energy and excess adrenelien, my spirit depleted and spent. 



How does one strength train one's will?

Thats why I dont do fitness challenges - just keep on trying to make it my life, you know?

Jackson has been encouraging me to everyday, make it a plan to "just walk for 10 minutes." The thing is, whenever I do that, I walk for 45 minutes (and throw some running in there too). I like setting the bar low, and then exceeding it. And it cheers me up in these bleak winter months! :-)

That is great, Niamh! My plan for this week is start again with a very small measure of success. LOVE that you're running!

Leonie, do you have a hard time keeping motivated without a goal? I do, but I've decided that the triathlon goal wasn't in keeping with my stated objectives for this school year. I said this would be a sabbatical year for me, a time to rest and regroup, not to overachieve.

The triathlon was definitely an overachieving-type goal and even at a very early stage of training, it was taking too much time during prime family time. So, tonight before WW, I'm going to come up with a small, maintainable fitness goal for the next 8 weeks. :)
