Reflecting on the Challenge

I have been in a funk mentally lately. But still been working out! And my eating has been very mindful, until yesterday and visitors! Uh oh..

Mindful eating, not dieting? Nice articles here. Ten principles.....

1. Reject the Diet Mentality
2. Honor Your Hunger
3. Make Peace with Food Call a truce, stop the food fight! Give yourself unconditional permission to eat.
4. Challenge the Food Police .Scream a loud "NO" to thoughts in your head that declare you're "good" for eating under 1000 calories or "bad" because you ate a piece of chocolate cake.
5. Respect Your Fullness Listen for the body signals that tell you that you are no longer hungry.
6. Discover the Satisfaction Factor The Japanese have the wisdom to promote pleasure as one of their goals of healthy living
7. Honor Your Feelings Without Using Food Find ways to comfort , nurture, distract, and resolve your issues without using food.
8. Respect Your Body Accept your genetic blueprint.
9. Exercise--Feel the Difference
10 Honor Your Health--Gentle Nutrition

Also have been reading about the importance of cross training, and of weight training for women, especialy as they get older. So, I thought I should probably change up my routine a bit.

Saturday, instead of Taebo, did a FIRM weights workout. Sunday and today , instead of Taebo, did Turbo Jam - still kickboxing but with an anaerobic drill and capoeria.

Going to plan not to pick at food when tired after work this evening!

Great list, Leonie. I have the hardest time not eating if I want to, even when I'm full.

Do you ever find that once you commit to something you don't want to do, it's worse than not committing to it? I've planned my workouts for the week, and at the moment would rather hide in my bed all week than get up and face them. Why is that?

Great ideas, Leonie. I know many of us have been dealing with that 'funk' lately... :(

I hope one day I can just eat by intuition... that is the real goal! I try not to yell at myself when I over eat, but love myself and enjoy the pleasure. But be mindful, like you say.

I find sometimes some rules helps me to get my portion control back, but yes, Rachel I love to buck my own rules!

I don't have as much problem with the workouts now becuase they are habit and often social, so I get lots of good kudos from them, once I get out the door!

But I did go on strike for workouts for no good reason the lsat 4 day. ha ha

Aren't we humans so weird?

Yes we are! I had a scheduled workout this morning and got up feeling like I was about to get sick and really debating about whether I should meet my friend. But since I couldn't really call at 5:30 am I went anyway. It turned out that my "stomach flu" as nothing more than Dreading a workout which turned out to be really great. Weird!

I play mental games with myself - I only have to do this much, I can take breaks, I can get a reward, pretd i am a dancer or an athlete or a soldier in bootcamp....I love my workouts but we all have days of less motivation. :-0 Games make it fun!
